"I'm worried about formaldehyde from new wallpaper and furniture"
"I don't like the unique smell of formaldehyde"
Do you ever have such worries or anxieties when building a new house or remodeling?

Therefore, we verified the formaldehyde reduction effect with our product GRASSELLO, which has both dignity and luxury, and confirmed that it reduces.
By reading this article, we hope to eliminate anxieties about formaldehyde even a little for those who are interested in our products.
It will be a little long, but I hope you read it with coffee or tea in hand.
Formaldehyde is a gas harmful to the human body
Many people may say "I've heard of formaldehyde but I don't know the details".
Formaldehyde is a colorless and transparent gas contained in adhesives for wallpaper and furniture. And it is toxic to the human body, specifically the following are known.
- Risk of causing allergic skin reaction
- Strong eye irritation - Risk of causing allergy, asthma or breathing difficulties if inhaled - Suspected of causing genetic defects
- Risk of causing cancer
- Damage to the nervous system and respiratory organs
(Excerpt from hazard information in Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare "Workplace Safety Site: Safety Data Sheet: Formaldehyde")
Therefore, formaldehyde is a dangerous substance for which there are limit values in the Building Standards Act.
Stucco detoxifies formaldehyde
Despite being such harmful formaldehyde, it is generally said that it is not generated from stucco and conversely has an adsorption effect.
The principle is as follows.
First, slaked lime, the main component of stucco, attaches harmful formaldehyde together and changes their quality.
And finally, it becomes harmless sugars. This is called the "formose reaction".
(The structure of the intermediate is described with reference to "Journal of the Chemical Society of Japan, 1972, P.2292~2297".)
It has been actually reported that slaked lime, the main component of stucco, adsorbs formaldehyde.

— We confirmed the formaldehyde reduction effect by our product
Our Italian stucco mixes marble and resin depending on the product into stucco to bring out design.
However, we confirmed that it has a formaldehyde reduction effect similar to general stucco with the cooperation of "Environmental Technology Center Technology Research Institute".
The specific verification method is as follows. First, place a container containing aqueous formaldehyde solution and water inside a glass container.
After 24 hours, accurately measure the amount of formaldehyde dissolved in water.
Compare the amount of formaldehyde dissolved in water when a panel painted with our product GRASSELLO is put in and when it is not put in.
If the amount of formaldehyde dissolved in water decreases, it is judged that formaldehyde has decreased.
The results were as follows.
- Without stucco panel: 12.0mg/L
- With stucco panel: 6.4mg/L

Although this verification is under simple conditions, it was reaffirmed that Italian stucco rich in design also "certainly has" a formaldehyde reduction effect.
Please consider our stucco products that demonstrate excellent effects not only in design but also in functionality.
